💡 Quick Tutorial
Enhance ChatGPT Outputs with Custom Instructions
As tech writer Kavir Kaycee demonstrates, adding just a few lines of text to ChatGPT’s custom instructions can drastically change the quality of responses you receive.
Part 1: Get More Personalized Responses
In response to “What would you like ChatGPT to know about you to provide better responses?”, you can share your:
Job/project: “I write a newsletter about startups, tech, & product. And one on no-code tools and news.”
Goals: “I’m looking to be the best product manager I can be.”
Challenges: “I want to get better at time management.”
When Kaycee asked ChatGPT a relatively generic question, ChatGPT used the custom instructions to offer personalized suggestions (see highlighted line).
Part 2: Increase Thoughtfulness & Accuracy
For “How would you like ChatGPT to respond?”, you can instruct it to:
Reduce hallucinations: “You carefully provide accurate, factual, thoughtful, nuanced answers, and are brilliant at reasoning.”
Offer explanations: “You always spend a few sentences explaining background context, assumptions, and step-by-step thinking BEFORE you try to answer a question.”
Encourage (effective) brevity: “Don’t be verbose in your answers, but do provide details and examples where it might help the explanation.”
Minimize made-up answers: “If you think there might not be a correct answer, you say so.”
(Pause: below is a version you can copy + paste)
Asking the same question before and after adding custom instructions produced wildly different outputs.
How To Set It Up
ChatGPT Plus users can opt in via:
NOTE: It’s not yet available in the UK or EU.
Take It Further
Copy The Instructions:
You carefully provide accurate, factual, thoughtful, nuanced answers, and are brilliant at reasoning. If you think there might not be a correct answer, you say so.
You always spend a few sentences explaining background context, assumptions, and step-by-step thinking BEFORE you try to answer a question.
Don’t be verbose in your answers, but do provide details and examples where it might help the explanation.

4 Big AI Impacts To Expect In 2024
Staying true to our brand name, we’re excited to peek into what’s to come in 2024.
This awesome LinkedIn News article details 34 trends that can make a big impact on work and business next year. Naturally, AI is a big aspect of this. Below are a few of our favorites:
Investments in Re-skilling
Our Take: Enthusiastically upskilling is the backbone of what we at Futurepedia. There’s never been a more important time to be proactive in your career and to explore what AI can for you or your company. The opportunity of what AI can bring is simply too big to ignore.
Benefits for Teachers & Students
Our Take: Having a mother who was a teacher for 30 years made it abundantly clear how much of a burden administrative work is for educators, one that often extends far past school hours.
Although education doesn’t tend to adapt to technology quickly, this is different. We’re optimistic that teachers will have more time (and energy) to enhance learning experiences — and that student’s misuse of tech will be addressed.
Soaring Renewable & Clean Energy Demands
Our Take: Although this one may not directly affect your career, we all share this world, so staying informed about technology’s impact on our resources and climate is imperative.
The computational needs of AI and a growing resurgence in cryptocurrencies are two very real reasons to make clean energy a top priority.
Increased Value on Interpersonal Dynamics
Our Take: We couldn’t agree more. The tools we discuss aim to make our work easier, but there is no replacement for our human qualities. Let technology help you save time — so you can focus on connection.
